Happy New Year, RoadSavers! 🙋🏽♂️
As we kick off a new year, we wanted to share some exciting news with you 🎉
According to an announcement from the Minister of Transport, South Africa will begin testing a new type of driving license card in 2023.
The current license cards will be phased out and the new ones are reported to sport some pretty advanced security features such as biometrics, holograms, and watermarks.
Fancy 💁🏽♂️
3 Ways We Can Expect Driving License Cards to Change in 2023:
The cards will be valid for a period of eight years, as opposed to only five years. This means that you won’t have to renew your license as frequently, saving you time and hassle.
An expansion of the smart enrolment system for online booking and license renewals is expected. This system connects to the Department of Home Affairs to confirm the applicant’s information including photos, fingerprints, and other data in real-time, making the online process faster and more convenient.
The new system will enable us to renew our driver’s licenses, apply for temporary licenses, and even pay our traffic fines 💰. This means that you’ll be able to take care of all your license-related needs in one place, making the process even more streamlined and convenient (thank heavens!!!).
It’s definitely a step in the right direction.
With these new changes, we can expect a more efficient and secure process when it comes to renewing our licenses. Here’s to hoping everything goes according to plan 🤞🏻
Have a productive week 🙋🏽♂️
